Zenwerx is a “company” that I founded in early 2000 as a place to advertise my skills and projects. I don’t actively search out clients, rather I build things that I see a need for and place them here for everyone to see. There are several projects that I have created that have seen a good acceptance of, and that makes me feel pretty good about my work. That is why I keep programming, and I promise to make sure that every public project we make available from now on will continue to be open source.
Recently I have been doing a lot of consulting working, and doing custom sites. If you need custom work done in PHP or the .NET Framework, or even using an existing Framework it can be arranged. Modifications or updates to existing sites are also possible!
You may be asking yourself why a developer who claims to do custom development is using WordPress for his home page, and I have a good answer for you! The reasoning is “it’s what I recommend to most of my customers.” That’s right, most people who come to me looking for something done for a site don’t really need a lot of custom development done. After showing prospective customers what can be done with WordPress (or other blog/CMS systems) and then explaining the cost of an entirely custom site, most will choose the pre-built option. WordPress is highly versatile and configuration only takes a few hours, depending on the options that are required. Take into account the large number of plugins and themes available, including low cost “premium” themes, and you’ve got a recipe for success.
The above doesn’t mean that custom development isn’t the answer to some tasks, but in the vast majority of cases it isn’t necessary. Some times it is though, for example if you already have a site and you just need some tweaks done; sure I can do that. Other times the flow of the task, or just the requirements don’t fit.
What I’m trying to get at here is this: I want you to know that if it is not neccessary to do a week, or more, of custom development then I won’t try to convince you it needs to be done. I want to find the best solution which costs you the least, and that is a requirement which is always on the top of my list when I am investigating customer requests.
